Berkshire Mews — FAQs

What is project-based assistance?

The subsidy is attached to the Berkshire Mews apartment, not the tenant. Eligible residents pay about 30% of adjusted monthly income, and HUD pays the rest directly to the property.

Do I need my own voucher?

No. Because the assistance is project-based, you don't need to bring your own Section 8 voucher to qualify.

Where are the homes located?

Across several downtown Pittsfield buildings, including McLaughlin Place, Linden Street, Bradford Street, and more — all close to shops, transit, and healthcare.

There's a waitlist — should I apply?

Yes. Homes are offered from the waitlist as they open, so applying early improves your chances.
